Types of Electrical Wire
Underground Electrical Wire
Underground electrical wires are designed to be run underground. Though it is a type of outdoor electrical wire but does not require any additional covering, conduit, or sheathing to guard it. The cable itself is sturdier and possesses distinct protective materials to keep water, dirt, and dust outside.
Household Wire
Household wires are conductors that carry electricity and are typically made of copper or aluminum. They are often bundled together in an insulated sheath and color-coded to indicate their function.
Copper Wire
One conductor for electrical wires is copper, which is flexible and durable with an insulating jacket to protect against electrical fires or short-circuiting. Copper wires have a high conductivity rate, meaning they work well with electronics. Copper wire is best used in power lines and low-voltage wiring projects due to its low electrical resistance.
Aluminum Wire
Another conductor for electrical wires is aluminum, which is more rigid than copper but provides a better ratio of conductivity to weight. Additionally, aluminum wire is lighter, which reduces any wear on their support structures, and it has a lower corrosion resistance. While aluminum wire has many uses, its most common is in power transmission and distribution.

Electrical Wire Installation
Plan and Design
Before installation, carefully plan the electrical wire route and layout to minimize bends, twists, and sharp angles. Follow industry standards and regulations regarding electrical wire spacing, support, and separation from other utilities.
Proper Termination
Ensure electrical wires are properly terminated and securely connected to electrical devices, junction boxes, or distribution panels. Follow manufacturer guidelines and use recommended tools and materials for terminations to maintain electrical integrity.
Avoid Overloading
Avoid overloading electrical wires by adhering to maximum load capacities and current ratings specified by the manufacturer. Use appropriate electrical wire sizes and types for the intended application to prevent overheating and potential fire hazards.
Testing and Commissioning
After installation, conduct thorough testing and commissioning of the electrical system to verify proper electrical wire installation and functionality. Test for continuity, insulation resistance, and voltage drop to identify any potential issues and ensure safety and reliability.
